Skylight I is the creative project of Ben Heppner which aims to incorporate the handpan into a contemporary chamber music setting. With a growing catalogue of five original compositions, this project introduces the handpan alongside keyboard percussion and orchestral string instruments resulting in a uniquely blended sound palette. 

Skylight I has given master classes at High schools around Chicagoland and has performed as guest artists in the Jim Belushi Auditorium at College of Dupage. They were awarded first place in the Northern Illinois University School of Music's 2022 Chamber Ensemble Competition and were featured on the WNIJ Radio Station.
